Will It Play In Peoria?
President Obama comes out and says that the economy is now his responsibility. It's NOW?! on him?
So everything President Obama has done up to this point and anything that has happened within the economy was still on Bush? As the old saying goes, "Will that play in Peoria?". I don't think so.
I think Obama is a few months too late on this press conference. Sure, he inherited a recession and President Bush started the country on the road away from free-markets by forcing banks to take federal bailouts. However, when he re-wrote 100 years of bankruptcy laws by bailing out GM and Chrysler, when he had his "stimulus" passed, and when he has participated in generational theft by putting this country so far in debt that our great-great-grandchildren will still be paying the INTEREST on that debt, then it was yours along time ago buddy.
That's not to mention what he has done to the confidence of the US dollar. The US dollar used to be a safe bet for other countries to invest in as well as their companies. Not anymore. Ever since Geithner turned the presses on at the Treasury in order to fund the drunken spending on Capital Hill and Pennsylvania Ave., the dollar has not enjoyed its premier status in the world. In fact. some of the world's biggest economic players have entertained creating a world currency. I guess that's what happens when you weaken the dollar to the point where nobody wants it. The US dollar used to be the preferred currency around the world, but not anymore.
The government's control and the refusal of both the Treasury and the Federal Reserve to open their books to who is getting what shows that this has been Obama's baby far longer than he is claiming now.
At least he manned up and finally decided that it was time to take credit where credit is due. You can't always blame the guy before you. If you were in a job for 6 months following the guy that just retired and your boss asked you why your work is all messed up, how could you possibly conceive on blaming your predecessor considering the time that has passed and the changes you have made?
