Here We Go Again

Vilifying the oil industry, car industry, and financial industry wasn't enough for the Democrats apparently.  With the Democrats and the White House losing ground on the health care debate, the Fascists seem that they want to vilify another industry - insurance companies.

Reps. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Bart Stupak (D-MI) have asked 52 different insurance companies to provide their compensation, bonus, retreats, and conferences records for Congressional review.  You tell me how we have not gone from capitalism to fascism in the course of 8 months.

Fascism has a negative connotation because of the pure evil it produced against the Jews and other minority groups.  However, we are talking about fascism without the nationalist, racist tint.  Lets look at the definition of fascism and then let's look at what has taken place recently and now:
"Where socialism sought totalitarian control of a society’s economic processes through direct state operation of the means of production, fascism sought that control indirectly, through domination of nominally private owners. Where socialism nationalized property explicitly, fascism did so implicitly, by requiring owners to use their property in the “national interest”—that is, as the autocratic authority conceived it. (Nevertheless, a few industries were operated by the state.) Where socialism abolished all market relations outright, fascism left the appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities. Where socialism abolished money and prices, fascism controlled the monetary system and set all prices and wages politically. In doing all this, fascism denatured the marketplace."
The government owns GM, part of Chrysler, and part of Citigroup.  The government seeks to even the economic playing field through intimidation - vilify and take over or vilify and make them do what they want.  The banking industry was forced to take government bailouts under George W. Bush and this policy has continued through today.  Now they want control of the health care industry.  Automotive, check.  Financial, check.  Health, maybe a check.  But let's continue...
"To maintain high employment and minimize populardiscontent, fascist governments also undertook massive public-worksprojects financed by steep taxes, borrowing, and fiat money creation. While many of these projects were domestic—roads, buildings, stadiums..."
One of the first pieces of legislation that Obama signed was the so called $787 billion "stimulus package" dubbed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  As a result of this bloated monstrosity of government spending, supposedly "shovel ready" projects and other economic projects would receive funding in order to employ people.  Call it the New Deal version 2009.  Cash for Clunkers also uses the new government ownership or corporatism.  You are supposed to buy a new environmentally friendly car (government dictating consumption) preferably from GM or Chrysler (government owned and unionized) with a $3500 or $4500 rebate provided by Citigroup (government owned).  Then there is the massive spending and borrowing and printing of money.  In order to try to pay for all of this debt, taxes will be increased on the "rich".  Continuing on...
"The government cartelized firms of the same industry, with representatives of labor and management serving on myriad local, regional, and national boards—subject always to the final authority of the dictator’s economic plan. Corporatism was intended to avert unsettling divisions within the nation, such as lockouts and union strikes. The price of such forced “harmony” was the loss of the ability to bargain and move about freely."

"...beginning in 1933, the constellation of government interventions known as the New Deal had features suggestive of the corporate state. The National Industrial Recovery Act created code authorities and codes of practice that governed all aspects of manufacturing and commerce. The National Labor Relations Act made the federal government the final arbiter in labor issues. The Agricultural Adjustment Act introduced central planning to farming."
Labor unions are the backbone of the Democrat Party.  The NLRA is still in effect today.  Many state governments and the federal government require bidders for contracted work to pay "prevailing wages" - in other words, union wages.  Some states are still Right To Work states but many are forced union.  Congress is set to debate the Employee Free Choice Act which will do away with the secret ballot, allow for worker intimidation to force co-workers to unionize, and allow for a union to be formed when a majority of people sign a union card with no real time deadlines should a majority not sign a union card.  We have a compensation czar which will decide how much of a bonus financial firms' executives that participated in the bailout will receive.

Finally, there's the forcible suppression of opposition part of fascism.  We see this today, but forcible suppression is not an exact match.  However, the media and the tyranny of the majority have tried to marginalize the opposition but incorrectly labeling them as Nazis, whack jobs, angry mobs, celebration of ignorance, etc.  The media is all too happy to report and condemn the town hall protesters and the tea parties.  This is the final piece to the fascist puzzle.  Media control.  The media ignores stories or does their part to push the party line.  In a show of support, NBC sells memorabilia of our Dear Leader!!!  News is strictly controlled and those that don't follow suit are ostracized.  Just as Major Garrett how that works.  This ostracizing also applies to companies.  Remember the outcry at the car industry executives for flying on private jets to DC for the Congressional hearings?  Oil industry executives in front of Congress every time gasoline prices go up?  And now the insurance companies are next on hot seat.  Congress will have their show trial, insurance companies will be vilified, and the media will do their part by running stories condemning insurance company practices and showing "tugging on the heart strings" stories about how those evil insurance companies have hurt people.  Those that defend insurance companies and by default those that oppose the health care reform bill will be shown as evil people hurting the poor and helpless.

I've laid out the facts of fascism and have compared them to today.  You decide if I'm correct or not.  Either way, if you have not read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg, you should.  In my opinion, it should be required reading for every American.
