Ben Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Sen. John Rockefeller (D-WV) has decided to ignore this advice from one of our Founding Fathers. Instead, he has sponsored a bill, S 773, that would enable the President to shut down the internet - take it over - in a time of national emergency. I've included a link above so that you can read the bill for yourself.
It seems there is another Arlen Specter in the room also. One of the co-sponsors of this bill is none other than Olympia Snowe (R-Me). This is the same Olympia Snowe that voted with her Senate counterpart Sen. Susan Collins, and then Republican Arlen Specter to vote for the $787 billion "stimulus" package. The Beltway pundits are all discussing the 60 votes needed to pass health care in the Senate, especially since Sen. Kennedy's death. Don't forget these two RINOs sold our financial future down the river once, don't think they won't do it again by voting for health care reform - helping the Democrats reach that magical 60 votes. If this does happen, the tyranny of the majority will call health care reform bi-partisan because they got 2 "Republicans" to vote for it.
