Cap and Trade Double Talk?
First, let me say that Congressman John Shimkus has done a fantastic job representing our area. It has to be a hard district to represent considering it stretches from Granite City (industrial, urban) all the way down to Southern Illinois (rural). Shimkus has done what he can to try to fight the health care reform bill in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Shimkus also opposes Cap and Trade which will hurt business, and kill jobs. Shimkus is set to meet today with Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo) to discuss Cap and Trade an the impact it will have in their respective districts.
If Shimkus is opposed to Cap and Trade because it will hurt small businesses especially, why is he supporting Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) for the open Illinois Senate seat? Rep. Mark Kirk voted for Cap and Trade. Double standard? Well, there are people here in Shimkus' district that would like an explanation. Be sure to call Rep. Shimkus' office and ask why if Shimkus is committed to opposing Cap and Trade, why he would be supporting the very person that voted for Cap and Trade?
