Some faster than others it seems.  The cult of personality is a strong force within government, especially when that cult of personality is a member of the majority party.  Additionally, the cult of personality weakens a nation because the cult is based on the worship of the leader as almost God-like or Savior.  Government and politics based on personality overshadows the politician who seeks power and provides leadership with no direction and token results.  What are some cases of the cult of personality? Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong , Kim Il Jong.  Here's a pledge school children used to have to say in China and the Soviet Union:

"I am a Young Pioneer. I pledge under the Young Pioneer flag that I am determined to follow the guidance of the Chinese Communist Party, to study hard, work hard and be ready to devote all my strength to the Communist cause."

"I, a young pioneer of the Soviet Union, in the presence of my comrades, solemnly promise to love my Soviet motherland passionately, and to live, learn and struggle as the great Lenin bade us and the Communist Party teaches us!"

Each asked people, especially the young to pledge allegiance to them and their cause.  But now, President Obama has taken further step trying to solidify his cult of personality.  The video below was supposed to be shown in schools to our children, but that plan has since been scrapped because of the outcry it generated.  The fact that these pop-tart celebs and President Obama want children to "pledge to be a servant to President Obama" (toward end of video) is not much different than the pledges above.  Notice at the end of the video whose production company made it.




The pledge below that the children will end up giving is truthful and has nothing to do with the cult of personality.  This pledge has to do with President Obama sentencing our children and their children to a life of debt, high taxes, less economic freedom, and less personal freedoms guaranteed to them by the Constitution.
