Effingham Tax Day Tea Party 2010
All we can say is WOW!!
People have been emailing and calling us since last night and we have to say thank you so much! Without you, our (and your) event could not have been successful as it was! From what we can gather from talking to people and what was quoted in the Effingham Daily News , we think there were at least 700 - 800 people there last night. The largest event held so far!! Thank you!!
The weather was perfect, Glen "Lip" Lewis' rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was inspiring, and Bruce Kesslar's invocation was beautiful. What a way to kick off our event!
The highlight of the evening had to be Dr. Joe Hartmann. He held the crowd at the edge of their seats. Funny, witty, and he told the absolute truth about what is going on. He told the crowd to hang tea bags from their rear view mirrors, and when you see another car with the same thing, we are to hold up our index finger showing our solidarity has ONE. We're so glad he could make it down here!
We also had Stephanie Rieman, Co-Coordinator of this event and all our previous events (and the love of my life), who spoke about the need to educate yourself. She also highlighted the book Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg. She always has a way with words.
We also had Rhonda Linders from the Alton Tea party group speak. Her group had held their event last Saturday April 10th. Their event was also a smashing success. It's nice to know there are like minded patriots all over Illinois like Rhonda. For those of you that want to help out, Rhonda will be working toward getting Rep. Phil "I don't worry about the Constitution" Hare out of office come November. If you want to help her out, email us here and we'll get you in contact with her!
Finally, I got up after Dr. Hartmann and said a few words about future legislation and the future of the Tea Parties...

Brad Holbrook also got up and spoke about the IL Fair Map Amendment. I don't have a photo of him for some reason. We'll find a mugshot of him somewhere and get it on here...
