Lindsey Graham's Temper Tantrum
Lindsey Graham is threatening to take his toys and go home? Did someone not allow him to play with their shovel in the sandbox?
Graham has been negotiating behind the scenes with Chuck Schumer regarding President Obama's need for 12 - 20 million new voters that President Obama hasn't made mad yet. Amnesty for illegal immigrants is the perfect choice for finding new voters and Graham has been more than willing to do Obama and McCain's dirty work. We all know that John McCain was pushing hard for the Dream Act II, but when he (it) failed, he stated that "he heard what American was saying". So, while Johnny Boy is running for re-election as the conservative he is not, Graham is filling in for him trying to give Obama and the Democrats the needed votes to overcome current voter anger. In fact, John McCain seems to be supporting the new Arizona law regarding illegals . Yet less than two short years ago, he was trying to give citizenship away via Dream Act II. Which is it John, do you support amnesty, or do you support a crack down on illegals? Don't worry about it Johnny Mac, if JD Hayworth gets a chance, you won't have to answer that question because the voters of Arizona will be retiring you from the US Senate. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if "The Maverick" (***insert groan and rolling of the eyes here***) decides to follow Charlie Crist onto the Independent ticket should they both lose.
At the same time, Graham has also been working with John Kerry and Joe Liebermann on a Cap and Trade bill. Graham's role in this Triple Entente (basically a subcommittee of the Triumvirate of Incompetence comprising of Obama, Reid and Pelosi) was to woo Republicans to vote for the Cap and Trade bill they came up with . I guess Graham took Obama's bait of oil exploration and ran with it. Maybe Graham wants to show the Democrats that McCain isn't the only Maverick in the Senate or maybe Graham thinks that compromising will make the other side like you.
Then, you know what hit the fan.
Graham all the sudden has either grown a conscience or is throwing a hissy fit because Harry Reid and the Democrats may push "immigration reform" before Cap and Trade. Does it really matter which order they go in? Both Cap and Trade and Dream Act III are horrible bills and should die an excruciating legislative death. For some reason, if immigration reform goes first, Graham is out . He's taking his toys and going home. Like either bill isn't a poison pill to Republican voters back home? Graham's behavior about which bill goes first reminds me of that kid that tries to impress the popular kids, but gets angry when the popular kids just won't him in their group.
I would like to think that Graham has woken up to reality, but instead, I think this has more to do with Graham thinking he was an important power broker and could do the damage normally done by McCain. Is Graham afraid of not getting credit as being the Great Negotiator of the US Senate? I think Graham may have sipped too much of McCain's "remaking the Republicans in my image" kool-aid. Face Lindsey, they used you. Who are they? McCain, Kerry, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Liebermann, and everyone else that patted you on the back and told you that you were doing good things "for the country". You fell for it, and now you're acting like a little kid laying on the floor in the grocery store holding his breath wanting a candy bar that you're mommy won't get for you. If you want to play the Maverick, get ready to take the hits for it. Or didn't the Sith Lord McCain tell his Padawan that part?
Just another reason why Lindsey Graham must go. Just one more reason why we need people like Jim DeMint and Marco Rubio in the US Senate.
