GOP Day, Joe The Plummer, And More

We headed up to GOP day at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield yesterday and there was a great turnout, despite the heat.  We heard from the entire state ticket, plus some others like Cedra Crenshaw.  Dan Proft and Patrick Hughes introduced some of the candidates as well.  Proft should moonlight as a comedian because he must have been born with a microphone in front of him.  Kirk Dillard was also there as well and received a healthy applause from the crowd when Bill Brady thanked him for the relatively quiet recount from the primary.  Mark Kirk spoke as well and highlighted the need for fiscal conservatism and responsibility and also the danger we face from a "lame duck" Congress.  Other speakers were the Sangamon County GOP Chairman, Jason Plummer, IL GOP Chairman Pat Brady and Adam Andzrejewski.  All in all, the event tried to show by example a unified GOP going into the last three months of campaign season.  We saw many old friends and new friends in Springfield including the Springfield Tea Party, the Alton Tea Party to name a few.

After the GOP Day festivities, we headed over to see Joe the Plummer speak at the Take Back Illinois 9-12 gathering.  We were able to meet with Joe before the gathering began, got his picture autographed, and get a picture with him.  He really is just a regular guy who is angry at what our government has done and how we allowed our government and politicians to do these things to us.

If you get a chance, there is a new magazine available for subscription:  The Conservative Magazine of Illinois.  The magazine covers exactly what the name says - conservative issues in Illinois.  If you get a chance to see a copy of this magazine, do so and then subscribe.

Just so you know, we'll have news about an event that you won't want to miss coming in early October.  I'll give you a hint, it involves a bus coming to Effingham with a VIP on it....
