Putting My Money Where My Mouth Is

Let's face it.  It's real easy to sit back here behind my computer screen or write letters to the editor or getting on the radio and criticize our local government.  At our last Tea Party rally, I gave a speech where I told people we were at the point where we need to put down the protest signs and pick up campaign signs, hit the precincts and vote.  This is what many of us have done as we are currently organizing a calling party and a precinct walk on behalf of Judge Doug Jarman.  If you are interested in helping elect Judge Jarman, don't hesitate to call me at 217-821-9306 or email us at downstateiladvocate@yahoo.com.

The highest form of political participation is running for office.  Today, I went to the Effingham City Hall and picked up a packet to enter my name in the mix for City Council.  I love Effingham and I want to see it prosper and grow, but not on the backs of the tax payers.  There are a few things I'd like to see changed, but we'll leave those ideas for another time when I know for sure I'm on the ballot.  I'll give you one nugget though.  I am still adamantly opposed to Effingham building/funding a Sports Complex.  Word on the street says this will be an issue that will resurface very soon, especially with the upcoming Mayor's race.  Stay tuned, the fight is not yet over.

The petitions have to be turned in on Dec. 13th for certification.  I hope I can count on your support!

Thank you!

Brian Milleville
