Don't Get Complacent
Complacent - adjective.
1. Pleased, especially with oneself or one's merits, advantages, situation, etc., often without awareness of some potential danger or defect; self-satisfied
2. pleasant, complaisant
To quote a line from Under Siege 2 - "Assumption is the mother of all ****-ups."
The polls are tightening in the Brady/Quinn race and the Kirk/Giannoulias race is also a squeaker. Now, more than ever we must double our GOTV (Get Out The Vote) efforts. Your responsibility is to call your friends and family to make sure they vote November 2nd.
Back in the February primary, it was the downstate voters that sent Bill Brady over the top. In the November, it will be the downstate voters that will send Bill Brady over the top again! Like always, we need to do nothing more than look at history as an example:
[Disclaimer: I hate Wikipedia, but in this instance, I'm going to use it.]
In 2002 , the last time Illinois had a Senate and Governor seat on the ballot in a midterm election, only 22% of the voters took time to vote - a mere 3.45 million people. Sad really. If we can crank up the voter turnout, it will increase our chances of victory.
In 2006, Judy Baar Topinka took 68% of downstate voters. Again, in a mid-term election, only about 3.48 million voted. Sad again.
In 2010, we need to really get the people to the polls. We have a "bleeping" golden opportunity here to change Illinois for the better. Almost as important is the fact that since this is a census year, controlling the Governor's mansion will be vital in the redistricting process.
So don't be complacent. Get out and vote!!
And while your at the ballot box, be sure to vote for Judge Doug Jarman!

Awesome! Now if we can get people to take the initiative you have by getting others to vote, then we would be going a long way to reversing the current course of public policy. My hat's off to you!
