URGENT ACTION NEEDED! CALL REP. SHIMKUS' OFFICE TODAY! 202-225-5271
This evening at around 4:45pm CST, the US
House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on Speaker John Boehner's
debt ceiling plan. The ONLY way that the debt ceiling should be raised
is through Cut, Cap, and Balance. What is Cut, Cap, and Balance?
1. Cut - We must make discretionary and mandatory spending reductions that would cut the deficit in half next year.
2. Cap - We need statutory, enforceable caps to align federal spending with average revenues at 18% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with automatic spending reductions if the caps are breached.
3. Balance - We must send to the states a Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) with strong protections against federal tax increases and a Spending Limitation Amendment (SLA) that aligns spending with average revenues as described above.

This is the ONLY way we can ensure that Washington will adhere to their budget cuts. How they can cut a budget that doesn't exist is still beyond me. That's right, Obama and his allies have not produced an actually budget in over 800 days! So these "cuts" within Speaker Boehner's plan are just a three card monte game since there is no actual budget to cut, and the cuts within Boehner's plan happen in year 9 and 10 of the 10 year plan!
In addition, Boehner's plan is a trap! A trap the Congressional Republicans are more than willing to walk straight into. If Boehner's plan passes, it will go to the Senate where the politicos say it is dead on arrival. BUT, if it does get to the Senate, Harry Reid can then add his plan - with even more tax increases than Boehner's plan - get it passed in the Senate, and then send it back to the House where Boehner and the GOP will then be forced to either vote for Reid's modified Boehner plan, or risk looking like they refuse to do anything towards the debt crisis.
By the way, all of this is happening to "avoid default", but no matter what happens with today's vote, the United States will still see its debt rating dropped! (causing higher interest rates and inflation)
WE MUST CALL REP. SHIMKUS' OFFICE TODAY! I called this morning to Rep. Shimkus' office and they refused to tell me on the phone which way the Congressman will vote this evening.
Call Rep. Shimkus at 202-225-5271 to let him know what you think of Boehner's bill and urge him to vote NO on any bill unless it is Cut, Cap, and Balance.
We MUST hold the line. No more debt ceiling increases. No more runaway spending. IT ENDS HERE!!!
